How do we know that space exists, what lies on the ocean floor, or how thin the air is at the top of a mountain: by exploring it.
How do we know that gravity exists, that wind is blowing outside our window, and that we’ve got a rodent problem in our apartment: by seeing its effects.
How do we know we love someone: by exploring them and seeing their effects on us.
If it helps you, be scientific about it. Spend time with that which you are curious about. Real time. Read the word, and marinate on it. Try praying a prayer in those quiet moments, speaking out loud about the first things that come to mind and letting your words form just as quickly as your thoughts. Explore it. Explore Him. Have a conversation.
I could describe to you what the wind feels like, how thin the air is on top of the mountain, or why I love who I love, but only if you step outside, climb, and spend time will any of these ever be your reality.
If it helps you, be scientific about it. Watch for the effects, and write them down. Watch for the effects within you and outside of you. Observe Him. Keep writing, and keep reading what you’ve written.

I can tell you Jesus loves you. He wants to be affiliated with you. He desires all of your brokenness, your dark past and present, your fears, and your destructive habits. He wants to be close to all of that.
Explore him. See his effects.
And get back to me.
P.S. I love you, too
